I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my favor from him as I took it from the one who ruled before you.

I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor.

“ Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David.

And Samuel said to him,“ The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to someone else— one who is better than you.

The king proclaims the Lord’s decree:“ The Lord said to me,‘ You are my son. Today I have become your Father.

Submit to God’s royal son, or he will become angry, and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities— for his anger flares up in an instant. But what joy for all who take refuge in him!

instead of asking the Lord for guidance. So the Lord killed him and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.

And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

But for the sake of your father, David, I will not do this while you are still alive. I will take the kingdom away from your son.And even so, I will not take away the entire kingdom; I will let him be king of one tribe, for the sake of my servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, my chosen city.”

And he will call out to me,‘ You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’I will make him my firstborn son, the mightiest king on earth.I will love him and be kind to him forever; my covenant with him will never end.I will preserve an heir for him; his throne will be as endless as the days of heaven.But if his descendants forsake my instructions and fail to obey my regulations,if they do not obey my decrees and fail to keep my commands,then I will punish their sin with the rod, and their disobedience with beating.But I will never stop loving him nor fail to keep my promise to him.No, I will not break my covenant; I will not take back a single word I said.I have sworn an oath to David, and in my holiness I cannot lie:His dynasty will go on forever; his kingdom will endure as the sun.It will be as eternal as the moon, my faithful witness in the sky!” Interlude

If he sins, I will correct and discipline him with the rod, like any father would do.But my favor will not be taken from him as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from your sight.Your house and your kingdom will continue before me for all time, and your throne will be secure forever.’”

His son will have one tribe so that the descendants of David my servant will continue to reign, shining like a lamp in Jerusalem, the city I have chosen to be the place for my name.

The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his hands.

Then a voice from the cloud said,“ This is my Son, my Chosen One. Listen to him.”

He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David.
