I will become his father and he will become my son. I will never withhold my loyal love from him, as I withheld it from the one who ruled before you.

I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor.

He will build me a house, and I will make his dynasty permanent.

Pay attention and come to me! Listen, so you can live! Then I will make an unconditional covenantal promise to you, just like the reliable covenantal promises I made to David.

Samuel said to him,“ The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day and has given it to one of your colleagues who is better than you!

The king says,“ I will announce the LORD’S decree. He said to me:‘ You are my son! This very day I have become your father!

Give sincere homage! Otherwise he will be angry, and you will die because of your behavior, when his anger quickly ignites. How blessed are all who take shelter in him!

He did not seek the LORD’s guidance, so the LORD killed him and transferred the kingdom to David son of Jesse.

and I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” says the All- Powerful Lord.

However, for your father David’s sake I will not do this while you are alive. I will tear it away from your son’s hand instead.But I will not tear away the entire kingdom; I will leave your son one tribe for my servant David’s sake and for the sake of my chosen city Jerusalem.”

He will call out to me,‘ You are my father, my God, and the protector who delivers me.’I will appoint him to be my firstborn son, the most exalted of the earth’s kings.I will always extend my loyal love to him, and my covenant with him is secure.I will give him an eternal dynasty, and make his throne as enduring as the skies above.If his sons reject my law and disobey my regulations,if they break my rules and do not keep my commandments,I will punish their rebellion by beating them with a club, their sin by inflicting them with bruises.But I will not remove my loyal love from him, nor be unfaithful to my promise.I will not break my covenant or go back on what I promised.Once and for all I have vowed by my own holiness, I will never deceive David.His dynasty will last forever. His throne will endure before me, like the sun,it will remain stable, like the moon, his throne will endure like the skies.”( Selah)

When he sins, I will correct him with the rod of men and with wounds inflicted by human beings.But my loyal love will not be removed from him as I removed it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.Your house and your kingdom will stand before me permanently; your dynasty will be permanent.’”

I will leave his son one tribe so my servant David’s dynasty may continue to serve me in Jerusalem, the city I have chosen as my home.

The Father loves the Son and has placed all things under his authority.

Then a voice came from the cloud, saying,“ This is my Son, my Chosen One. Listen to him!”

He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.
