After David was settled in his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet,“ Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under a tent.”

David moved into his palace. Then he spoke to Nathan the prophet. He said,“ Here I am, living in a house that has beautiful cedar walls. But the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under a tent.”

Now when David lived in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet,“ Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under a tent.”

When David was settled in his palace, he summoned Nathan the prophet.“ Look,” David said,“ I am living in a beautiful cedar palace, but the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant is out there under a tent!”

When David had settled into his palace, he said to the prophet Nathan,“ Look! I am living in a cedar house while the ark of the LORD’s covenant is under tent curtains.”

And it came about, when David lived in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet,“ Look, I am living in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under tent curtains.”

Now it came to pass, when David was dwelling in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet,“ See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under tent curtains.”

And it came to pass, when David dwelt in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of Jehovah dwelleth under curtains.

When David had settled into his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet,“ Look! I am living in a cedar house while the ark of the Lord’s covenant is under tent curtains.”

Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD[ remaineth] under curtains.

When David had settled into his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet,“ Look, I am living in a palace made from cedar, while the ark of the LORD’s covenant is under a tent.”

When David lived in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet,“ Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of Yahweh’s covenant is in a tent.”

大衛在大衛城為自己建造宮殿，並為上帝的約櫃預備地方，支搭帳篷。

從我把以色列人帶出埃及那天起直到今天，我從未住過殿宇，都住在四處遷移的帳篷裡。

大衛蒙上帝悅納，祈求為雅各的上帝建造一座聖殿。

王派撒督祭司、拿單先知、耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅，以及基利提人和比利提人護送所羅門騎上王的騾子。

不過，撒督祭司、耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅、拿單先知、示每、利以和大衛的勇士卻沒有跟隨他。

有人奏告王，說：「拿單先知來了。」拿單來到王面前，俯伏在地，

他們把耶和華的約櫃抬來，安放在大衛準備好的帳篷裡。大衛在耶和華面前獻上燔祭和平安祭，

眾人將上帝的約櫃抬進去，安放在大衛所搭的帳篷裡，然後在上帝面前獻上燔祭和平安祭。

泰爾王希蘭差遣使者帶著香柏木、木匠和石匠去為大衛建造宮殿。

大衛住在王宮裡，耶和華使他安享太平，不受四圍的仇敵侵擾。一天，王對拿單先知說：「你看！我住在香柏木造的王宮中，但上帝的約櫃還留在帳篷裡。」拿單答道：「你只管照著自己的想法去做吧，因為耶和華與你同在。」當晚耶和華對拿單說：「你去告訴我的僕人大衛，『耶和華說，你豈是為我建造殿宇的人？從我把以色列人帶出埃及那天起，直到今天，我從未住過殿宇，一路上都住在帳篷裡。在我與以色列人同行的日子，我從未責問任何我委派牧養我子民的士師，你為何不為我建香柏木的殿宇呢？』「現在你要告訴我的僕人大衛，萬軍之耶和華說，『你原本在草場牧羊，我召你來做我以色列子民的首領。無論你去哪裡，我都與你同在，為你剷除所有仇敵。現在我要使你聲名遠播，與世上的偉人齊名。我必為我的以色列子民預備一個地方，栽培他們，讓他們住在自己的家園，不再受驚擾，不會像從前我設立士師治理他們的時候那樣受惡人壓迫。我必使你安定，免受仇敵的侵擾。我耶和華向你宣告，我必建立你的王室。

大衛已經把上帝的約櫃從基列·耶琳搬到耶路撒冷，因為他在那裡為約櫃搭了一個帳篷。

所羅門又說：「我父大衛曾想建一座殿來尊崇以色列的上帝耶和華之名，但耶和華對我父大衛說，『你想為我建殿，這番心意是好的，但你不要建，要由你的親生兒子為我建殿。』

十二個月後，他在巴比倫王宮的屋頂散步時，說：「這宏偉的巴比倫豈不是我用大能建立為京都，以顯我的威嚴和榮耀嗎？」

「這殿還是一片廢墟，你們卻住在華麗的房子裡。

耶和華派拿單先知去見大衛。拿單對大衛說：「一座城裡有兩個人，一個富有，一個貧窮。

在聖幕上面搭起罩棚，鋪上頂蓋，都遵照耶和華的吩咐。他把約版放在約櫃裡，橫杠穿在約櫃的兩旁，施恩座放在約櫃上，把約櫃抬進聖幕，掛起幔子遮掩約櫃，都遵照耶和華的吩咐。

「我尼布甲尼撒安居在家，在宮中享受榮華。

祂差遣拿單先知去賜給他一個名字——耶底底亞，意思是耶和華喜愛他。

難道你大肆使用香柏木就能顯出你做王的氣派嗎？你父親也吃也喝，但他秉公行義，所以他凡事順利；

你們盼望豐收，結果收的很少；你們把收成帶回家，我卻把它們吹走。這是什麼緣故？萬軍之耶和華告訴你們，『因為你們都忙於建自家的房子，任由我的殿一片廢墟。

大衛王一生的事蹟都記在撒母耳先見、拿單先知和迦得先見的史記上。
