The Lord is great. He is really worthy of praise. People should have respect for him as the greatest God of all.

It is you alone who are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry?

No one is like you, Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power.Who should not fear you, King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise leaders of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you.They are all senseless and foolish; they are taught by worthless wooden idols.Hammered silver is brought from Tarshish and gold from Uphaz. What the craftsman and goldsmith have made is then dressed in blue and purple— all made by skilled workers.But the Lord is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor?Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding?Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires, nor its animals enough for burnt offerings.Before him all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by him as worthless and less than nothing.
