永恆主不容任何人欺壓他們；他為了他們的緣故曾指責君王，

上帝不容人虐遇之、因之譴責列王兮、

上帝不容人虐遇、苟為列王所侮、譴責必加。

He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:

耶和華因亞伯蘭妻子撒萊的緣故，降大災與法老和他的全家。

但夜間，神來，在夢中對亞比米勒說：「你是個死人哪！因為你取了那女人來；她原是別人的妻子。」

耶和華對摩西說：「你清早起來，站在法老面前，對他說：『耶和華－希伯來人的神這樣說：容我的百姓去，好事奉我。因為這一次我要叫一切的災殃臨到你和你臣僕並你百姓的身上，叫你知道在普天下沒有像我的。我若伸手用瘟疫攻擊你和你的百姓，你早就從地上除滅了。其實，我叫你存立，是特要向你顯我的大能，並要使我的名傳遍天下。你還向我的百姓自高，不容他們去嗎？到明天約在這時候，我必叫重大的冰雹降下，自從埃及開國以來，沒有這樣的冰雹。

若不是我父親以撒所敬畏的神，就是亞伯拉罕的神與我同在，你如今必定打發我空手而去。神看見我的苦情和我的勞碌，就在昨夜責備你。」

夜間，神到亞蘭人拉班那裏，在夢中對他說：「你要小心，不可與雅各說好說歹。」

我手中原有能力害你，只是你父親的神昨夜對我說：『你要小心，不可與雅各說好說歹。』
