He will keep the covenant he made with Abraham. He will keep the promise he made to Isaac.

the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac,

This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac.

the covenant he made with Abraham, swore to Isaac,

The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac.

The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac,

The covenant which he made with Abraham, And his oath unto Isaac,

the covenant He made with Abraham, swore to Isaac,

[ Even of the covenant] which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;

the promise he made to Abraham, the promise he made by oath to Isaac!

the covenant which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac.

Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.

Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.”

On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said,“ To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates—

And God said to him,“ I am God Almighty; be fruitful and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.

The Lord appeared to Abram and said,“ To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

Brothers and sisters, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case.The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say“ and to seeds,” meaning many people, but“ and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ.What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.

to show mercy to our ancestors and to remember his holy covenant,the oath he swore to our father Abraham:

and said,“ I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”

And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham,‘ Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’

There above it stood the Lord, and he said:“ I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.

You found his heart faithful to you, and you made a covenant with him to give to his descendants the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites and Girgashites. You have kept your promise because you are righteous.

God also said to Moses,“ Say to the Israelites,‘ The Lord, the God of your fathers— the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob— has sent me to you.’“ This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.

When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself,saying,“ I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.”And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument.Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath.God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.
