巴蘭對巴勒說：『你在這裏給我築七座祭壇，在這裏給我豫備七隻公牛、七隻公綿羊。』巴勒照巴蘭所告訴他的去行；巴勒和巴蘭就在每座祭壇上獻上一隻公牛、一隻公綿羊。巴蘭對巴勒說：『你站在你的燔祭旁邊，我且往前去；或者永恆主碰巧來迎見我；他指示我甚麼，我就告訴你甚麼。』於是巴蘭到一個無草木的高處。上帝迎見巴蘭；巴蘭對上帝說：『我已經擺好了七座祭壇，在每座祭壇獻上一隻公牛、一隻公綿羊。』

並不是說我們憑着自己能夠以甚麼事為出於自己。我們之所以能夠的、乃是出於上帝；

『我算甚麼，我的人民算甚麼，竟有力量能這樣甘心自願地奉獻呀？萬物都是從你而來的；我們只把從你手裏得來的獻與你罷了。

『第七天要獻公牛七隻，公綿羊兩隻、公綿羊羔一歲以內的十四隻、要完全沒有殘疾的。

對後一種人呢、就做徹頭徹尾死之氣味，對前一種人呢、就做徹頭徹尾活之氣味。要作這些事、誰能夠呢？

我得了從上帝來的庇佑，所以站立得穩、直到這一天，不但對卑小的人、也對尊大的人、作見證。所說的不外乎神言人們和摩西所講必須發生的事，

這節期內七天、他要供備燔祭獻與永恆主，一連七天、每天七隻公牛、七隻公綿羊，都要完全沒有殘疾的；他每天也要供備一隻公山羊為解罪祭。

撒母耳將一塊石頭安放在米斯巴與耶沙拿之間，給石頭起名叫以便以謝，說：『這是永恆主幫助我們的證據。』

我要拿燔祭進你的殿，向你還我所許的願，就是急難時我嘴脣所發，我口中所說出的。我要把肥牛的燔祭同燻公綿羊的香氣獻上與你；也獻公牛同公山羊。（細拉）
