So David and the elders of Israel and the commanders of units of a thousand went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord from the house of Obed-Edom, with rejoicing.

And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she despised him in her heart.They brought the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and David sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before the Lord.After he had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord Almighty.Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each person in the whole crowd of Israelites, both men and women. And all the people went to their homes.When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said,“ How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half- naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!”David said to Michal,“ It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel— I will celebrate before the Lord.I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.”And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death. (niv)

Instead, he took it to the house of Obed- Edom the Gittite.The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household and everything he had. And rejoice before the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name— you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, the Levites in your towns, and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows living among you. (niv)

So I took the leading men of your tribes, wise and respected men, and appointed them to have authority over you— as commanders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens and as tribal officials. (niv)

“ But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” (niv)

He said to them,“ Listen, men of Benjamin! Will the son of Jesse give all of you fields and vineyards? Will he make all of you commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds? (niv)

There, in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the Lord your God has blessed you. (niv)

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. (niv)

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. (niv)

Then the people of Israel— the priests, the Levites and the rest of the exiles— celebrated the dedication of the house of God with joy. (niv)

For seven days celebrate the festival to the Lord your God at the place the Lord will choose. For the Lord your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete. (niv)

Instead, you are to eat them in the presence of the Lord your God at the place the Lord your God will choose— you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levites from your towns— and you are to rejoice before the Lord your God in everything you put your hand to. (niv)
