David was celebrating with all his might in front of God. So was the whole community of Israel. All of them were singing songs. They were also playing harps, lyres, tambourines, cymbals and trumpets.

of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and 112 of his relatives.Then David called for the priests Zadok and Abiathar, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab;and he said to them,“ You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites; consecrate yourselves, you and your relatives, so that you may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel to the place that I have prepared for it.Because you did not carry it at the first, the Lord our God made an outburst against us, since we did not seek Him according to the ordinance.”So the priests and the Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel.The sons of the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles on them, just as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the Lord.Then David spoke to the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their relatives as the singers, with musical instruments, harps, lyres, and cymbals, playing to raise sounds of joy.So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel, and from his relatives, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and from the sons of Merari their relatives, Ethan the son of Kushaiah,and with them their relatives of the second rank, Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed edom, and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound aloud cymbals of bronze;and Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with harps tuned to alamoth;and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah, to lead with lyres tuned to the sheminith.Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was in charge of the singing; he gave instruction in singing because he was skillful.Berechiah and Elkanah were gatekeepers for the ark.Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before the ark of God. Obed edom and Jehiah also were gatekeepers for the ark.

Moreover, David and the commanders of the army set apart for the service some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, who were to prophesy with lyres, harps, and cymbals; and the number of those who performed this service was:Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah; the sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king.Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six in all, under the direction of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising the Lord.Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer to exalt him according to the words of God, for God gave fourteen sons and three daughters to Heman.All of these were under the direction of their father to sing in the house of the Lord, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the direction of the king.

Meanwhile, David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the Lord with all kinds of instruments made of juniper wood, and with lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets, and cymbals.But when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached out toward the ark of God and took hold of it, because the oxen nearly overturned it.And the anger of the Lord burned against Uzzah, and God struck him down there for his irreverence; and he died there by the ark of God.Then David became angry because of the Lord’s outburst against Uzzah; and that place has been called Perez uzzah to this day.So David was afraid of the Lord that day; and he said,“ How can the ark of the Lord come to me?”And David was unwilling to move the ark of the Lord into the city of David with him; but David took it aside to the house of Obed edom, the Gittite.The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed edom and all his household.Now it was reported to King David, saying,“ The Lord has blessed the house of Obed edom and all that belongs to him, on account of the ark of God.” So David went and brought the ark of God up from the house of Obed edom to the city of David with joy.And so it was, that when those carrying the ark of the Lord marched six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened steer.And David was dancing before the Lord with all his strength, and David was wearing a linen ephod.So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with joyful shouting and the sound of the trumpet.Then it happened, as the ark of the Lord was coming into the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked down through the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she was contemptuous of him in her heart.Now they brought in the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent which David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of armies.Further, he distributed to all the people, to all the multitude of Israel, both to men and women, a cake of bread, one of dates, and one of raisins to each one. Then all the people left, each to his house.But when David returned to bless his own household, Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said,“ How the king of Israel dignified himself today! For he exposed himself today in the sight of his servants’ female slaves, as one of the rabble shamelessly exposes himself!”But David said to Michal,“ I was before the Lord, who preferred me to your father and to all his house, to appoint me as ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. So I will celebrate before the Lord!And I might demean myself even more than this and be lowly in my own sight, but with the female slaves of whom you have spoken, with them I am to be held in honor!”And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.

Afterward you will come to the hill of God where the Philistine garrison is; and it shall be as soon as you have come there to the city, that you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with harp, tambourine, flute, and a lyre in front of them, and they will be prophesying.

So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the horn, with trumpets, with loud sounding cymbals, with harps, and lyres.

and four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand were praising the Lord with the instruments which David made for giving praise.

Take away from Me the noise of your songs; I will not even listen to the sound of your harps.

Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed edom, and Jeiel, with musical instruments, harps, and lyres; also Asaph played loud sounding cymbals,

God has ascended with a shout, The Lord, with the sound of a trumpet.
