基列·耶琳人就下来把耶和华的约柜抬到山上，放在亚比拿达的家里，派他的儿子以利亚撒看守耶和华的约柜。约柜在基列·耶琳停留了二十年。那时，全体以色列人都痛悔地寻求耶和华。

便求问耶和华：“我可以去攻打非利士人吗？”耶和华答道：“你可以去攻打非利士人，营救基伊拉。”

他对以色列人说：“让我们连夜追赶非利士人，抢夺他们的财物，直到天亮，把他们全部歼灭。”众人答道：“就照你的意思。”但祭司说：“让我们先来求问上帝吧。”

那也不是我第一次为他求问耶和华，求王不要因这事加罪于我或我的家人，因为我根本不知道谋反的事。”

亚希米勒为他求问耶和华，给他食物，还把非利士人歌利亚的刀给了他。”
