He then said to the whole assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the Lord our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our people throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us.

David spoke to the whole community of Israel. He said,“ Let’s send word to the rest of our people no matter how far away they live. They live in all the territories of Israel. Let’s also send word to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and on their grasslands. Let’s invite everyone to come and join us. Let’s do it if it seems good to you and if that’s what the Lord our God wants.

And David said to all the assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you and from the Lord our God, let us send abroad to our brothers who remain in all the lands of Israel, as well as to the priests and Levites in the cities that have pasturelands, that they may be gathered to us.

Then he addressed the entire assembly of Israel as follows:“ If you approve and if it is the will of the Lord our God, let us send messages to all the Israelites throughout the land, including the priests and Levites in their towns and pasturelands. Let us invite them to come and join us.

Then he said to the whole assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you, and if this is from the LORD our God, let’s spread out and send the message to the rest of our relatives in all the districts of Israel, including the priests and Levites in their cities with pasturelands, that they should gather together with us.

And David said to all the assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you, and if it is of the Lord our God, let us send out to our brethren everywhere who are left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites who are in their cities and their common-lands, that they may gather together to us;

And David said unto all the assembly of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and if it be of Jehovah our God, let us send abroad every where unto our brethren that are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us;

Then he said to the whole assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you, and if this is from the Lord our God, let us spread out and send the message to the rest of our relatives in all the districts of Israel, including the priests and Levites in their cities with pasturelands, that they should gather together with us.

And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If[ it seem] good unto you, and[ that it be] of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where,[ that are] left in all the land of Israel, and with them[ also] to the priests and Levites[ which are] in their cities[ and] suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:

David said to the whole Israelite assembly,“ If you so desire and the LORD our God approves, let’s spread the word to our brothers who remain in all the regions of Israel, and to the priests and Levites in their cities, so they may join us.

David said to all the assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you, and if it is of Yahweh our God, let’s send word everywhere to our brothers who are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have pasture lands, that they may gather themselves to us.

Now the Philistines were fighting against Israel, and the men of Israel fled from the Philistines but fell fatally wounded on Mount Gilboa.

When all the people of Israel who were in the valley saw that they had fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities and fled; and the Philistines came and lived in them.

Therefore, though I have enough confidence in Christ to order you to do what is proper,yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you— since I am such a person as Paul, an old man, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus—

Perhaps the Lord your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to taunt the living God, and will avenge the words which the Lord your God has heard. Therefore, offer a prayer for the remnant that is left.’ ”

If you do this thing and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all these people also will go to their places in peace.”

Then David said,“ No one is to carry the ark of God except the Levites; for the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the Lord and to serve Him forever.”And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the Lord to its place which he had prepared for it.David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and 120 of his relatives;of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and 220 of his relatives;of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and 130 of his relatives;of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and two hundred of his relatives;of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and eighty of his relatives;of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and 112 of his relatives.Then David called for the priests Zadok and Abiathar, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab;and he said to them,“ You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites; consecrate yourselves, you and your relatives, so that you may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel to the place that I have prepared for it.Because you did not carry it at the first, the Lord our God made an outburst against us, since we did not seek Him according to the ordinance.”So the priests and the Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel.

“ Command the sons of Israel that they give to the Levites from the inheritance of their possession cities to live in; and you shall give to the Levites pasture lands around the cities.The cities shall be theirs to live in; and their pasture lands shall be for their cattle and for their equipment and for all their other animals.“ The pasture lands of the cities which you are to give to the Levites shall extend from the wall of the city outward a thousand cubits around.You shall also measure outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, on the south side two thousand cubits, on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits, with the city in the center. This shall become theirs as pasture lands for the cities.The cities which you shall give to the Levites shall be the six cities of refuge, which you shall provide for the one who commits manslaughter to flee to; and in addition to them you shall give forty two cities.The total number of the cities which you are to give to the Levites shall be forty eight cities, together with their pasture lands.As for the cities which you shall give them from the possession of the sons of Israel, you shall take more from the larger, and you shall take fewer from the smaller; each shall give some of his cities to the Levites in proportion to his inheritance which he possesses.”Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

Also he told the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, so that they might devote themselves to the Law of the Lord.As soon as the order spread, the sons of Israel abundantly provided the first fruits of grain, new wine, oil, honey, and of all the produce of the field; and they brought in abundantly the tithe of everything.The sons of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of sacred gifts which were consecrated to the Lord their God, and placed them in heaps.In the third month they began to make the heaps, and they finished them by the seventh month.When Hezekiah and the rulers came and saw the heaps, they blessed the Lord and His people Israel.Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps.Azariah, the chief priest of the house of Zadok, said to him,“ Since the contributions started coming into the house of the Lord, we have had enough to eat with plenty left over, for the Lord has blessed His people, and this great quantity is left over.”Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare rooms in the house of the Lord, and they prepared them.They faithfully brought in the contributions, the tithes, and the consecrated things; and Conaniah the Levite was the officer in charge of them, and his brother Shimei was second.Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were overseers under the authority of Conaniah and his brother Shimei by the appointment of King Hezekiah, and Azariah was the chief officer of the house of God.Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the keeper of the eastern gate, was in charge of the voluntary offerings for God, to distribute the contributions for the Lord and the most holy things.Under his authority were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, to distribute their portions faithfully to their brothers by divisions, whether great or small,without regard to their genealogical enrollment, to the males from thirty years old and upward— everyone who entered the house of the Lord for his daily obligations— for their work in their duties according to their divisions;as well as the priests who were enrolled genealogically according to their fathers’ households, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, by their duties and their divisions.The genealogical enrollment included all their little children, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, for the whole assembly, for they consecrated themselves faithfully in holiness.Also for the sons of Aaron, the priests, who were in the pasture lands of their cities, or in each and every city, there were men who were designated by name to distribute portions to every male among the priests and to everyone genealogically enrolled among the Levites.Hezekiah did this throughout Judah; and he did what was good, right, and true before the Lord his God.Every work which he began in the service of the house of God in the Law and in the commandment, seeking his God, he did with all his heart and prospered.

Then they spoke to him, saying,“ If you will be a servant to this people today, and will serve them and grant them their request, and speak pleasant words to them, then they will be your servants always.”

Now these are their settlements according to their camps within their borders. To the sons of Aaron of the families of the Kohathites( for theirs was the first lot),to them they gave Hebron in the land of Judah and its pasture lands around it;but they gave the fields of the city and its settlements to Caleb the son of Jephunneh.To the sons of Aaron they gave the following cities of refuge: Hebron, Libnah together with its pasture lands, Jattir, Eshtemoa with its pasture lands,Hilen with its pasture lands, Debir with its pasture lands,Ashan with its pasture lands, and Beth shemesh with its pasture lands;and from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its pasture lands, Allemeth with its pasture lands, and Anathoth with its pasture lands. Their cities throughout their families were thirteen cities in all.Then to the rest of the sons of Kohath were given by lot, from the family of the tribe, from the half tribe, the half of Manasseh, ten cities.To the sons of Gershom, according to their families, were given from the tribe of Issachar, the tribe of Asher, the tribe of Naphtali, and the tribe of Manasseh, thirteen cities in Bashan.To the sons of Merari were given by lot, according to their families, from the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad, and the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.So the sons of Israel gave the Levites the cities with their pasture lands.They gave by lot from the tribe of the sons of Judah, the tribe of the sons of Simeon, and the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, these cities which are mentioned by name.Now some of the families of the sons of Kohath had cities of their territory from the tribe of Ephraim.They gave to them the following cities of refuge: Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim with its pasture lands, Gezer with its pasture lands,Jokmeam with its pasture lands, Beth horon with its pasture lands,Aijalon with its pasture lands, and Gath rimmon with its pasture lands;and from the half tribe of Manasseh: Aner with its pasture lands and Bileam with its pasture lands, for the rest of the family of the sons of Kohath.To the sons of Gershom were given, from the family of the half tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan with its pasture lands and Ashtaroth with its pasture lands;and from the tribe of Issachar: Kedesh with its pasture lands, Daberath with its pasture lands,Ramoth with its pasture lands, and Anem with its pasture lands;and from the tribe of Asher: Mashal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands,Hukok with its pasture lands, and Rehob with its pasture lands;and from the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee with its pasture lands, Hammon with its pasture lands, and Kiriathaim with its pasture lands.To the rest of the Levites, the sons of Merari, were given, from the tribe of Zebulun: Rimmono with its pasture lands, Tabor with its pasture lands,and beyond the Jordan at Jericho, on the east side of the Jordan, were given them, from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer in the wilderness with its pasture lands, Jahzah with its pasture lands,Kedemoth with its pasture lands, and Mephaath with its pasture lands;and from the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead with its pasture lands, Mahanaim with its pasture lands,Heshbon with its pasture lands, and Jazer with its pasture lands.

This is the work of the descendants of Kohath in the tent of meeting, concerning the most holy things.“ When the camp sets out, Aaron and his sons shall go in and take down the veil of the curtain, and cover the ark of the testimony with it;and they shall place a covering of fine leather on it, and spread over it a cloth of pure violet, and insert its carrying poles.Over the table of the bread of the Presence they shall also spread a cloth of violet and put on it the dishes, the pans, the sacrificial bowls, and the jugs for the drink offering; and the continual bread shall be on it.And they shall spread over them a cloth of scarlet material, and cover the same with a covering of fine leather, and they shall insert its carrying poles.Then they shall take a violet cloth and cover the lampstand for the light, along with its lamps, its tongs, its trays, and all its oil containers, by which they attend to it;and they shall put it and all its utensils in a covering of fine leather, and put it on the carrying bars.Over the golden altar they shall spread a violet cloth, and cover it with a covering of fine leather, and they shall insert its carrying poles;and they shall take all the utensils of service, with which they serve in the sanctuary, and put them in a violet cloth and cover them with a covering of fine leather, and put them on the carrying bars.Then they shall clean away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth over it.They shall also put on it all its utensils by which they serve in connection with it: the firepans, the forks, shovels, and the basins, all the utensils of the altar; and they shall spread a cover of fine leather over it and insert its carrying poles.When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy objects and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, when the camp is to set out, after that the sons of Kohath shall come to carry them by the poles, so that they will not touch the holy objects and die. These are the things in the tent of meeting that the sons of Kohath are to carry.“ Now the responsibility of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest is the oil for the light, the fragrant incense, the continual grain offering, and the anointing oil— the responsibility of all the tabernacle and everything that is in it, with the sanctuary and its furnishings.”Then the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,“ Do not let the tribe of the families of the Kohathites be eliminated from among the Levites.Rather, do this for them so that they will live and not die when they approach the most holy objects: Aaron and his sons shall go in and assign each of them to his work and to his load;but they shall not come in to see the holy objects even for a moment, or they will die.”

but King Joram had returned to Jezreel to have himself healed of the wounds which the Arameans had inflicted on him when he fought Hazael king of Aram. So Jehu said to the other men,“ If this is your intent, then let no one escape from the city to go tell about it in Jezreel.”

that the king said to Nathan the prophet,“ See now, I live in a house of cedar, but the ark of God remains within the tent.”Nathan said to the king,“ Go, do all that is in your mind, for the Lord is with you.”But in the same night, the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying,“ Go and say to My servant David,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ Should you build Me a house for My dwelling?
