And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If[ it seem] good unto you, and[ that it be] of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where,[ that are] left in all the land of Israel, and with them[ also] to the priests and Levites[ which are] in their cities[ and] suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:

He then said to the whole assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the Lord our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our people throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us.

David spoke to the whole community of Israel. He said,“ Let’s send word to the rest of our people no matter how far away they live. They live in all the territories of Israel. Let’s also send word to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and on their grasslands. Let’s invite everyone to come and join us. Let’s do it if it seems good to you and if that’s what the Lord our God wants.

And David said to all the assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you and from the Lord our God, let us send abroad to our brothers who remain in all the lands of Israel, as well as to the priests and Levites in the cities that have pasturelands, that they may be gathered to us.

Then he addressed the entire assembly of Israel as follows:“ If you approve and if it is the will of the Lord our God, let us send messages to all the Israelites throughout the land, including the priests and Levites in their towns and pasturelands. Let us invite them to come and join us.

Then he said to the whole assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you, and if this is from the LORD our God, let’s spread out and send the message to the rest of our relatives in all the districts of Israel, including the priests and Levites in their cities with pasturelands, that they should gather together with us.

David said to all the assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you, and if it is from the Lord our God, let us send word everywhere to our kinsmen who remain in all the land of Israel, and to the priests and Levites who are with them in their cities with pasture lands, that they meet with us;

And David said to all the assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you, and if it is of the Lord our God, let us send out to our brethren everywhere who are left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites who are in their cities and their common-lands, that they may gather together to us;

And David said unto all the assembly of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and if it be of Jehovah our God, let us send abroad every where unto our brethren that are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us;

Then he said to the whole assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you, and if this is from the Lord our God, let us spread out and send the message to the rest of our relatives in all the districts of Israel, including the priests and Levites in their cities with pasturelands, that they should gather together with us.

David said to the whole Israelite assembly,“ If you so desire and the LORD our God approves, let’s spread the word to our brothers who remain in all the regions of Israel, and to the priests and Levites in their cities, so they may join us.

David said to all the assembly of Israel,“ If it seems good to you, and if it is of Yahweh our God, let’s send word everywhere to our brothers who are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have pasture lands, that they may gather themselves to us.

Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

And when all the men of Israel that[ were] in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,Yet for love’s sake I rather beseech[ thee], being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

It may be the LORD thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up[ thy] prayer for the remnant that is left.

If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee[ so], then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.

Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD unto his place, which he had prepared for it.And David assembled the children of Aaron, and the Levites:Of the sons of Kohath; Uriel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty:Of the sons of Merari; Asaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty:Of the sons of Gershom; Joel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and thirty:Of the sons of Elizaphan; Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred:Of the sons of Hebron; Eliel the chief, and his brethren fourscore:Of the sons of Uzziel; Amminadab the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twelve.And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,And said unto them, Ye[ are] the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves,[ both] ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel unto[ the place that] I have prepared for it.For because ye[ did it] not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel.

Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give[ also] unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites,[ shall reach] from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city[ shall be] in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites[ there shall be] six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.[ So] all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites[ shall be] forty and eight cities: them[ shall ye give] with their suburbs.And the cities which ye shall give[ shall be] of the possession of the children of Israel: from[ them that have] many ye shall give many; but from[ them that have] few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD.And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all[ things] brought they in abundantly.And[ concerning] the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated unto the LORD their God, and laid[ them] by heaps.In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished[ them] in the seventh month.And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his people Israel.Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps.And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, Since[ the people] began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: for the LORD hath blessed his people; and that which is left[ is] this great store.Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD; and they prepared[ them],And brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated[ things] faithfully: over which Cononiah the Levite[ was] ruler, and Shimei his brother[ was] the next.And Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad, and Eliel, and Ismachiah, and Mahath, and Benaiah,[ were] overseers under the hand of Cononiah and Shimei his brother, at the commandment of Hezekiah the king, and Azariah the ruler of the house of God.And Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the porter toward the east,[ was] over the freewill offerings of God, to distribute the oblations of the LORD, and the most holy things.And next him[ were] Eden, and Miniamin, and Jeshua, and Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in[ their] set office, to give to their brethren by courses, as well to the great as to the small:Beside their genealogy of males, from three years old and upward,[ even] unto every one that entereth into the house of the LORD, his daily portion for their service in their charges according to their courses;Both to the genealogy of the priests by the house of their fathers, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their charges by their courses;And to the genealogy of all their little ones, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, through all the congregation: for in their set office they sanctified themselves in holiness:Also of the sons of Aaron the priests,[ which were] in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites.And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and wrought[ that which was] good and right and truth before the LORD his God.And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did[ it] with all his heart, and prospered.

And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.

Now these[ are] their dwelling places throughout their castles in their coasts, of the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites: for theirs was the lot.And they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, and the suburbs thereof round about it.But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh.And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of Judah,[ namely], Hebron,[ the city] of refuge, and Libnah with her suburbs, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa, with their suburbs,And Hilen with her suburbs, Debir with her suburbs,And Ashan with her suburbs, and Bethshemesh with her suburbs:And out of the tribe of Benjamin; Geba with her suburbs, and Alemeth with her suburbs, and Anathoth with her suburbs. All their cities throughout their families[ were] thirteen cities.And unto the sons of Kohath,[ which were] left of the family of that tribe,[ were cities given] out of the half tribe,[ namely, out of] the half[ tribe] of Manasseh, by lot, ten cities.And to the sons of Gershom throughout their families out of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.Unto the sons of Merari[ were given] by lot, throughout their families, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.And the children of Israel gave to the Levites[ these] cities with their suburbs.And they gave by lot out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these cities, which are called by[ their] names.And[ the residue] of the families of the sons of Kohath had cities of their coasts out of the tribe of Ephraim.And they gave unto them,[ of] the cities of refuge, Shechem in mount Ephraim with her suburbs;[ they gave] also Gezer with her suburbs,And Jokmeam with her suburbs, and Bethhoron with her suburbs,And Aijalon with her suburbs, and Gathrimmon with her suburbs:And out of the half tribe of Manasseh; Aner with her suburbs, and Bileam with her suburbs, for the family of the remnant of the sons of Kohath.Unto the sons of Gershom[ were given] out of the family of the half tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, and Ashtaroth with her suburbs:And out of the tribe of Issachar; Kedesh with her suburbs, Daberath with her suburbs,And Ramoth with her suburbs, and Anem with her suburbs:And out of the tribe of Asher; Mashal with her suburbs, and Abdon with her suburbs,And Hukok with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs:And out of the tribe of Naphtali; Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, and Hammon with her suburbs, and Kirjathaim with her suburbs.Unto the rest of the children of Merari[ were given] out of the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmon with her suburbs, Tabor with her suburbs:And on the other side Jordan by Jericho, on the east side of Jordan,[ were given them] out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the wilderness with her suburbs, and Jahzah with her suburbs,Kedemoth also with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs:And out of the tribe of Gad; Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, and Mahanaim with her suburbs,And Heshbon with her suburbs, and Jazer with her suburbs.

This[ shall be] the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation,[ about] the most holy things:And when the camp setteth forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering vail, and cover the ark of testimony with it:And shall put thereon the covering of badgers’ skins, and shall spread over[ it] a cloth wholly of blue, and shall put in the staves thereof.And upon the table of shewbread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put thereon the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls, and covers to cover withal: and the continual bread shall be thereon:And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put in the staves thereof.And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and his lamps, and his tongs, and his snuffdishes, and all the oil vessels thereof, wherewith they minister unto it:And they shall put it and all the vessels thereof within a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put[ it] upon a bar.And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put to the staves thereof:And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and put[ them] in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put[ them] on a bar:And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth thereon:And they shall put upon it all the vessels thereof, wherewith they minister about it,[ even] the censers, the fleshhooks, and the shovels, and the basons, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of badgers’ skins, and put to the staves of it.And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear[ it]: but they shall not touch[ any] holy thing, lest they die. These[ things are] the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation.And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest[ pertaineth] the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily meat offering, and the anointing oil,[ and] the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that therein[ is], in the sanctuary, and in the vessels thereof.And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites:But thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden:But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.

But king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If it be your minds,[ then] let none go forth[ nor] escape out of the city to go to tell[ it] in Jezreel.

That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that[ is] in thine heart; for the LORD[ is] with thee.And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
