The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.

利未人按照耶和華藉摩西頒佈的命令，用杠把上帝的約櫃抬在肩上。

「拔營出發時，哥轄的子孫要等到亞倫父子們把聖所和聖所的器具都蓋好後，才可以來抬。他們負責抬這些會幕的器具，但不可觸摸這些聖物，免得死亡。

烏西雅強盛後，便心高氣傲，以致走向滅亡。他干犯他的上帝耶和華，擅自進入耶和華的殿在香壇上燒香。祭司亞撒利雅率領八十位耶和華勇敢的祭司跟著進殿，阻止烏西雅王，說：「烏西雅啊，給耶和華燒香不是你可以做的事，乃是承受聖職做祭司的亞倫子孫的事。離開聖所吧！你已干犯耶和華上帝，必不能從祂那裡得榮耀。」手拿香爐要燒香的烏西雅大怒，正當他在耶和華殿裡的香壇旁向眾祭司發怒的時候，他額頭上突然患了痲瘋病。亞撒利雅大祭司和眾祭司見狀，就催促他出殿，他急忙出去了，因為耶和華降災給他。

正因如此，你們當中有許多人身體軟弱，疾病纏身，死亡的也不少。如果我們先自我省察，就不會遭受審判了。主審判我們，是對我們的管教，免得我們和世人一同被定罪。

耶和華又降下烈火，燒死了那二百五十個獻香的人。

嫩的兒子約書亞便召來祭司，對他們說：「你們抬起約櫃，派七位祭司拿著七個羊角號走在耶和華的約櫃前面。」

亞倫的兒子拿答和亞比戶各拿自己的香爐，點火加香，在耶和華面前獻上凡火。他們這樣做不合耶和華的吩咐。於是，有火從耶和華面前出來吞噬了他們，他們就死在耶和華面前。摩西告訴亞倫：「耶和華曾說過，『我要在事奉我的人中顯明我的聖潔，在所有子民面前彰顯我的榮耀。』」亞倫默默無言。

那一天，耶和華擊殺了七十個伯·示麥人，因為他們擅自觀看約櫃裡面。民眾為此哀慟不已，
