All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks. They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of the Israelites were also of one mind to make David king.

在你征战的日子，你的人民都乐意投身；你的少年人以圣洁为装饰，好像清晨的甘露，到你那里。

西布伦支派的子孙中，能出去作战、可以使用各种兵器，行军整齐、不生二心的，共有五万人。

以色列众支派都到希伯仑来见大卫，说：“看哪！我们都是你的骨肉至亲。从前扫罗作我们的王的时候，领导以色列人行动的是你。耶和华也曾对你说：‘你要牧养我的子民以色列，要作以色列的领袖。’”以色列的众长老都到希伯仑来见王。大卫王在希伯仑耶和华面前与他们立约，他们就膏立大卫作以色列的王。

犹大啊，你的兄弟们要称赞你；你的手必压住仇敌的颈项；你父亲的众子必向你下拜。犹大是只小狮子；我儿啊，你猎取了食物就上到洞穴去。他屈身伏卧，好像公狮，又像母狮，谁敢惊动他呢？权杖必不离开犹大，王圭必不离他两脚之间，直到细罗﹙“细罗”有古译本作“属他的那位”﹚来到，万族都要臣服他。

“唉，耶和华啊！求你记念我曾怎样以真诚和完全的心在你面前行事为人，我所行的都是你看为善的事。”希西家就痛哭起来。

“我要把一颗心赐给他们，把新的灵放在他们里面；我要从他们肉体中除掉石心，赐给他们肉心，

所罗门年老的时候，他的妃嫔诱惑他的心偏离了神去随从别的神。他的心不像他的父亲大卫那样完全归于耶和华他的神。

神的能力也帮助犹大人，使他们一心遵行王和众领袖奉耶和华的命令发出的吩咐。
