皆係武士、能守行伍、忠乃心、至希伯崙、欲立大闢為王、治以色列族、斯土餘民、亦同此心、

All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks. They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of the Israelites were also of one mind to make David king.

大衛出去迎接他們，說：「如果你們是好心來幫助我的，我就與你們結盟，但如果你們把我這無罪之人出賣給敵人，願我們祖先的上帝鑒察、懲罰你們。」當時，上帝的靈感動那三十位勇士的首領亞瑪撒，他就說：「大衛啊，我們是你的人！耶西的兒子啊，我們擁護你！願你無比昌盛！願幫助你的人也都昌盛！因為你的上帝幫助你。」大衛便收留他們，派他們統領他的隊伍。

你跟仇敵作戰的時候，你的百姓必甘心跟從，他們衣著聖潔，如清晨的甘露。

來自西布倫支派、能征善戰、擁有各種兵器、訓練有素、忠心耿耿的五萬人；

以色列各支派都來希伯崙見大衛，對他說：「我們是你的骨肉同胞。從前掃羅做王的時候，率領以色列人出征打仗的是你，耶和華也曾應許讓你做祂以色列子民的牧者和首領。」以色列的長老都到希伯崙見大衛王，大衛與他們在耶和華面前立約，他們膏立大衛做以色列的王。

「猶大啊，你的兄弟們必讚美你，你必制伏你的仇敵，你父親的兒子必向你下拜。我兒猶大是頭小獅子，他獵食回來，躺臥如雄獅，蹲伏如母獅，誰敢驚擾他？王權必不離猶大，御杖必伴他左右，直到那位執掌王權的來到，萬民都必歸順他。

「耶和華啊，求你顧念我怎樣全心、忠誠地事奉你，做你視為善的事。」希西迦痛哭起來。

我必賜給他們一顆專一的心，將新靈放在他們裡面，除去他們的石心，賜給他們肉心，

所羅門年老的時候，他的嬪妃誘惑他的心去追隨別的神明。他沒有像他父親大衛那樣忠心順服他的上帝耶和華。

耶和華上帝感動猶大人，使他們一心遵從王與眾官員奉祂的指示所下的命令。
