Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, And said:“ I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.I have found My servant David; With My holy oil I have anointed him,

Then invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do; you shall anoint for Me the one I name to you.”

So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said,“ Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!”Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and spoke, saying,“ Indeed we are your bone and your flesh.Also, in time past, when Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them in; and the Lord said to you,‘ You shall shepherd My people Israel, and be ruler over Israel.’”Therefore all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord. And they anointed David king over Israel.

But he did not inquire of the Lord; therefore He killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.Then all Israel came together to David at Hebron, saying,“ Indeed we are your bone and your flesh.Also, in time past, even when Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them in; and the Lord your God said to you,‘ You shall shepherd My people Israel, and be ruler over My people Israel.’”Therefore all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord. And they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.

Now then, do it! For the Lord has spoken of David, saying,‘ By the hand of My servant David, I will save My people Israel from the hand of the Philistines and the hand of all their enemies.’”
