那人不願再住一夜，就備上兩匹驢，帶着他的妾起身走了，來到耶布斯的對面，耶布斯就是耶路撒冷。將近耶布斯的時候，太陽快下山了，僕人對主人說：「來吧，我們進這耶布斯人的城，在這裏住宿。」主人對他說：「我們不可進入外邦人的城，那不是以色列人的地方，我們越過這裏到基比亞去吧。」

我也曾說：要把你們從埃及的困苦中領出來，往迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人的地去，就是到流奶與蜜之地。』

王和他的人到了耶路撒冷，要攻打住那地方的耶布斯人。耶布斯人對大衛說：「你必不能進到這裏，就是盲人、瘸子都可以把你擊退。」就是說：「大衛絕不能進到這裏。」然而大衛攻取了錫安的堡壘，就是大衛的城。當日，大衛說：「誰攻打耶布斯人，就要從水道上去，攻打我心裏所恨惡的瘸子、盲人。」因此有人說：「盲人和瘸子不得進殿裏去。」大衛住在堡壘裏，給它起名叫大衛城。大衛又從米羅往內，周圍建築。大衛日見強大，耶和華－萬軍之上帝與他同在。

洗拉、以利弗、耶布斯，耶布斯就是耶路撒冷，基比亞、基列，共十四座城，以及所屬的村莊。這是便雅憫人按着宗族所得的地業。
