The inhabitants of Jebus said to David,“ You shall not enter here.” Nevertheless David took the mountain stronghold of Zion( that is, the city of David).

But the man was unwilling to spend the night, so he got up and left, and came to a place opposite Jebus( that is, Jerusalem). And with him was a pair of saddled donkeys; his concubine also was with him.When they were near Jebus, the day was almost gone; and the servant said to his master,“ Please come, and let’s turn aside into this city of the Jebusites and spend the night in it.”However, his master said to him,“ We will not turn aside into a city of foreigners who are not of the sons of Israel; instead, we will go on as far as Gibeah.”

So I said, I will bring you up out of the oppression of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.” ’

Now the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land; and they said to David,“ You shall not come in here, but even those who are blind and those who limp will turn you away,” thinking,“ David cannot enter here.”Nevertheless, David captured the stronghold of Zion, that is, the city of David.And David said on that day,“ Whoever strikes the Jebusites is to reach those who limp and those who are blind, who are hated by David’s soul, through the water tunnel.” For that reason they say,“ People who are blind and people who limp shall not come into the house.”So David lived in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. And David built all around from the Millo and inward.David became greater and greater, for the Lord God of armies was with him.

Zelah, Haeleph, the Jebusite city( that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah, Kiriath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin according to their families.
