那人不情願再住一宵，就起身走了；他來到耶布斯、就是耶路撒冷、的對面；和他同行的有那豫備好了的兩匹驢；他的妾也跟着他。他們在耶布斯附近的時候，日快要落了；僮僕對主人說：『來吧，我們轉到這耶布斯人的城裏去過夜吧。』主人對他說：『我們不可轉到這些不是以色列人住的外族人之城裏；我們必須過去到基比亞那邊。』；

我曾經說：我要將你們從埃及的困苦中領出來，上迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人之地，流奶與蜜之地。』」

王和跟隨的人到了耶路撒冷、要攻打那地的居民耶布斯人；耶布斯人對大衛說道：『你不能進這裏來；只須瞎眼的瘸腿的便可以將你擊退』，意思是說：大衛總不能進那裏去。然而大衛卻攻取了錫安的營寨、就是大衛城。那一天大衛就說：『誰攻擊耶布斯人、到達水溝去擊打大衛心所恨惡的瘸子瞎子，誰就可以得到重賞。』因此有命令說：瞎眼的瘸腿的不得進聖殿。大衛住在營寨裏，把營寨叫做大衛城；大衛又從米羅向聖殿方面往裏、周圍築牆。大衛越來越強大；永恆主萬軍之上帝與他同在。

洗拉、以利弗、耶布斯、（就是耶路撒冷）、基比亞、基列：十四座城，和屬這些城的村莊：這是便雅憫人按家族所得的產業。
