便雅憫人沒有趕出住耶路撒冷的耶布斯人。耶布斯人仍在耶路撒冷與便雅憫人同住，直到今日。

上到欣嫩子谷，貼近耶布斯的南界（耶布斯就是耶路撒冷）；又上到欣嫩谷西邊的山頂，就是在利乏音谷極北的邊界；

至於住耶路撒冷的耶布斯人，猶大人不能把他們趕出去，耶布斯人卻在耶路撒冷與猶大人同住，直到今日。

亞摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人、耶布斯人之地。」

耶布斯人對大衛說：「你決不能進這地方。」然而大衛攻取錫安的保障，就是大衛的城。

那人不願再住一夜，就備上那兩匹驢，帶着妾起身走了，來到耶布斯的對面（耶布斯就是耶路撒冷。）臨近耶布斯的時候，日頭快要落了，僕人對主人說：「我們不如進這耶布斯人的城裏住宿。」主人回答說：「我們不可進不是以色列人住的外邦城，不如過到基比亞去」；

我也說：要將你們從埃及的困苦中領出來，往迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人的地去，就是到流奶與蜜之地。』

大衛和跟隨他的人到了耶路撒冷，要攻打住那地方的耶布斯人。耶布斯人對大衛說：「你若不趕出瞎子、瘸子，必不能進這地方」；心裏想大衛決不能進去。然而大衛攻取錫安的保障，就是大衛的城。當日，大衛說：「誰攻打耶布斯人，當上水溝攻打我心裏所恨惡的瘸子、瞎子。」從此有俗語說：「在那裏有瞎子、瘸子，他不能進屋去。」大衛住在保障裏，給保障起名叫大衛城。大衛又從米羅以裏，周圍築牆。大衛日見強盛，因為耶和華－萬軍之神與他同在。

洗拉、以利弗、耶布斯（耶布斯就是耶路撒冷）、基比亞、基列，共十四座城，還有屬城的村莊。這是便雅憫人按着宗族所得的地業。
