掃羅和約拿單生時相悅相愛，死時也不分離。他們比鷹更快，比獅子還強。

三月第三班的班長是耶何耶大祭司長的兒子比拿雅；他班內有二萬四千人。這比拿雅是那三十人中的勇士，管理那三十人；他班內又有他兒子暗米薩拔。

比拿雅來到耶和華的帳幕，對約押說：「王這樣吩咐：『你出來吧！』」他說：「不，我要死在這裏。」比拿雅就去回覆王，說：「約押這樣說，他這樣回答我。」

約押統管以色列全軍；耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅統管基利提人和比利提人；

於是，撒督祭司、拿單先知、耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅，以及基利提人和比利提人都下去，讓所羅門騎上大衛王的騾子，送他到基訓。

參孫跟他父母下亭拿去，他們到了亭拿的葡萄園。看哪，有一隻少壯獅子對着他吼叫。耶和華的靈大大感動參孫，他就手無寸鐵撕裂獅子，如撕裂小山羊一樣。他做這事，並沒有告訴他的父母親。
