Saul groaned to his armor bearer,“ Take your sword and kill me before these pagan Philistines come to taunt and torture me.” But his armor bearer was afraid and would not do it. So Saul took his own sword and fell on it.

謂執兵者曰、爾其拔劍刺我、免未受割者至而侮我、執兵者懼甚、不敢奉命、掃羅遂伏劍而死、

謂持兵之士曰、汝其拔刃刺我、恐未受割者至、加以狎侮。持兵之士懼甚、不敢奉命、掃羅觸刃而死。

Saul said to his armor-bearer,“ Draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcised fellows will come and abuse me.” But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it.

Saul spoke to the man who was carrying his armor. He said,“ Pull out your sword and stick it through me. If you don’t, these men who aren’t circumcised will come and hurt me badly.” But the man was terrified. He wouldn’t do it. So Saul took his own sword and fell on it.

Then Saul said to his armor-bearer,“ Draw your sword and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and mistreat me.” But his armor-bearer would not, for he feared greatly. Therefore Saul took his own sword and fell upon it.

Then Saul said to his armor-bearer,“ Draw your sword and run me through with it, or these uncircumcised men will come and torture me.” But his armor-bearer would not do it because he was terrified. Then Saul took his sword and fell on it.

Then Saul said to his armor bearer,“ Draw your sword and thrust me through with it, otherwise these uncircumcised Philistines will come and abuse me.” But his armor bearer would not, for he was very afraid. So Saul took his own sword and fell on it.

When Ahithophel realized that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey, went to his hometown, set his affairs in order, and hanged himself. He died there and was buried in the family tomb.

“ Let’s go across to the outpost of those pagans,” Jonathan said to his armor bearer.“ Perhaps the Lord will help us, for nothing can hinder the Lord. He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!”

The Philistine rulers held a great festival, offering sacrifices and praising their god, Dagon. They said,“ Our god has given us victory over our enemy Samson!”When the people saw him, they praised their god, saying,“ Our god has delivered our enemy to us! The one who killed so many of us is now in our power!”Half drunk by now, the people demanded,“ Bring out Samson so he can amuse us!” So he was brought from the prison to amuse them, and they had him stand between the pillars supporting the roof.

When Zimri saw that the city had been taken, he went into the citadel of the palace and burned it down over himself and died in the flames.

The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself.

He quickly said to his young armor bearer,“ Draw your sword and kill me! Don’t let it be said that a woman killed Abimelech!” So the young man ran him through with his sword, and he died.

“ I have sinned,” he declared,“ for I have betrayed an innocent man.”“ What do we care?” they retorted.“ That’s your problem.”Then Judas threw the silver coins down in the Temple and went out and hanged himself.

I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God!

“ Then he begged me,‘ Come over here and put me out of my misery, for I am in terrible pain and want to die.’“ So I killed him,” the Amalekite told David,“ for I knew he couldn’t live. Then I took his crown and his armband, and I have brought them here to you, my lord.”

So the Philistines captured him and gouged out his eyes. They took him to Gaza, where he was bound with bronze chains and forced to grind grain in the prison.

David asked the soldiers standing nearby,“ What will a man get for killing this Philistine and ending his defiance of Israel? Who is this pagan Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?”

Samson was now very thirsty, and he cried out to the Lord,“ You have accomplished this great victory by the strength of your servant. Must I now die of thirst and fall into the hands of these pagans?”

When his armor bearer realized that Saul was dead, he fell on his own sword and died.

( Judas had bought a field with the money he received for his treachery. Falling headfirst there, his body split open, spilling out all his intestines.

Don’t announce the news in Gath, don’t proclaim it in the streets of Ashkelon, or the daughters of the Philistines will rejoice and the pagans will laugh in triumph.

“ Why were you not afraid to kill the Lord’s anointed one?” David asked.Then David said to one of his men,“ Kill him!” So the man thrust his sword into the Amalekite and killed him.“ You have condemned yourself,” David said,“ for you yourself confessed that you killed the Lord’s anointed one.”
