He did not seek guidance from the Lord. Therefore the Lord put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.

instead of asking the Lord for guidance. So the Lord killed him and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.

but he did not inquire of the LORD. So the LORD put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.

撒母耳对他说：“如此，今日耶和华使以色列国与你断绝，将这国赐与比你更好的人。 (cunps)

现在你的王位必不长久。耶和华已经寻着一个合他心意的人，立他作百姓的君，因为你没有遵守耶和华所吩咐你的。” (cunps)

耶和华对撒母耳说：“我既厌弃扫罗作以色列的王，你为他悲伤要到几时呢？你将膏油盛满了角，我差遣你往伯利恒人耶西那里去；因为我在他众子之内，预定一个作王的。” (cunps)

耶和华照他藉我说的话，已经从你手里夺去国权，赐与别人，就是大卫。 (cunps)

扫罗求问耶和华，耶和华却不藉梦，或乌陵，或先知回答他。 (cunps)

耶和华对以色列人说：“我岂没有救过你们脱离埃及人、亚摩利人、亚扪人，和非利士人吗？西顿人、亚玛力人、马云人也都欺压你们；你们哀求我，我也拯救你们脱离他们的手。你们竟离弃我，侍奉别神！所以我不再救你们了。你们去哀求所选择的神；你们遭遇急难的时候，让他救你们吧！”以色列人对耶和华说：“我们犯罪了，任凭你随意待我们吧！只求你今日拯救我们。”以色列人就除掉他们中间的外邦神，侍奉耶和华。耶和华因以色列人受的苦难，就心中担忧。 (cunps)

预备打仗的兵来到希伯仑见大卫，要照着耶和华的话将扫罗的国位归与大卫。他们的数目如下： (cunps)

我若不照着耶和华起誓应许大卫的话行，废去扫罗的位，建立大卫的位，使他治理以色列和犹大，从但直到别是巴，愿神重重地降罚与我！” (cunps)

撒母耳对耶西说：“你的儿子都在这里吗？”他回答说：“还有个小的，现在放羊。”撒母耳对耶西说：“你打发人去叫他来；他若不来，我们必不坐席。”耶西就打发人去叫了他来。他面色光红，双目清秀，容貌俊美。耶和华说：“这就是他，你起来膏他。”撒母耳就用角里的膏油，在他诸兄中膏了他。从这日起，耶和华的灵就大大感动大卫。撒母耳起身回拉玛去了。 (cunps)

然而，他不是这样的意思；他心也不这样打算。他心里倒想毁灭，剪除不少的国。 (cunps)

以恶报善的，祸患必不离他的家。 (cunps)

“人子啊，这些人已将他们的假神接到心里，把陷于罪的绊脚石放在面前，我岂能丝毫被他们求问吗？所以你要告诉他们：‘主耶和华如此说：以色列家的人中，凡将他的假神接到心里，把陷于罪的绊脚石放在面前，又就了先知来的，我耶和华在他所求的事上，必按他众多的假神回答他，好在以色列家的心事上捉住他们，因为他们都藉着假神与我生疏。’“所以你要告诉以色列家说：‘主耶和华如此说：回头吧！离开你们的偶像，转脸莫从你们一切可憎的事。’ (cunps)

于是以色列的长老都来到希伯仑见大卫王，大卫在希伯仑耶和华面前与他们立约，他们就膏大卫作以色列的王。 (cunps)

斧岂可向用斧砍木的自夸呢？锯岂可向用锯的自大呢？好比棍抡起那举棍的，好比杖举起那非木的人。 (cunps)
