So Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD and did not obey the LORD’s instructions; he even tried to conjure up underworld spirits.

掃羅死了，因為他對耶和華不忠，不聽從祂的教誨，甚至去求問靈媒，

掃羅死了，因為他悖逆耶和華，沒有聽從他的話，也因為他去求問那交鬼的，

這樣、掃羅死了、是為了他所犯對永恆主不忠實的罪，為了永恆主的話的緣故、就是他所沒有遵守的；也是因為他去尋問去請示交鬼的，

夫掃羅之死、因其干犯耶和華、不遵其命、且請示於憑鬼者、

掃羅犯罪、違耶和華命、不詢於耶和華、乃問於憑卜神者、故耶和華殺之、移其國祚、以畀耶西之子大闢。

如是、掃羅死、因其獲罪於主、不遵守主命、且因問交鬼之婦、而不詢主、主殺之、移其國歸耶西子大衛、

Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance,

Saul died because he wasn’t faithful to the Lord. He didn’t obey the word of the Lord. He even asked for advice from a person who gets messages from people who have died.

So Saul died for his breach of faith. He broke faith with the Lord in that he did not keep the command of the Lord, and also consulted a medium, seeking guidance.

So Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord. He failed to obey the Lord’s command, and he even consulted a medium

Saul died for his unfaithfulness to the LORD because he did not keep the LORD’s word. He even consulted a medium for guidance,

So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he committed against the Lord, because of the word of the Lord which he did not keep; and also because he asked counsel of a medium, making inquiry of her,

So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against Jehovah, because of the word of Jehovah, which he kept not; and also for that he asked counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to inquire thereby,

So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against Yahweh, because of Yahweh’s word, which he didn’t keep; and also because he asked counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire,

For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and presumption is like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.”

“‘ The person who turns to the spirits of the dead and familiar spirits to commit prostitution by going after them, I will set my face against that person and cut him off from the midst of his people.

Do not turn to the spirits of the dead and do not seek familiar spirits to become unclean by them. I am the LORD your God.

There must never be found among you anyone who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, anyone who practices divination, an omen reader, a soothsayer, a sorcerer,one who casts spells, one who conjures up spirits, a practitioner of the occult, or a necromancer.Whoever does these things is abhorrent to the LORD and because of these detestable things the LORD your God is about to drive them out from before you.You must be blameless before the LORD your God.Those nations that you are about to dispossess listen to omen readers and diviners, but the LORD your God has not given you permission to do such things.

Then Samuel said to Saul,“ You have made a foolish choice! You have not obeyed the commandment that the LORD your God gave you. Had you done that, the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever!But now your kingdom will not continue! The LORD has sought out for himself a man who is loyal to him and the LORD has appointed him to be leader over his people, for you have not obeyed what the LORD commanded you.”

So Saul instructed his servants,“ Find me a woman who is a medium, so that I may go to her and inquire of her.” His servants replied to him,“ There is a woman who is a medium in Endor.”So Saul disguised himself and put on other clothing and left, accompanied by two of his men. They came to the woman at night and said,“ Use your ritual pit to conjure up for me the one I tell you.”But the woman said to him,“ Look, you are aware of what Saul has done; he has removed the mediums and magicians from the land! Why are you trapping me so you can put me to death?”But Saul swore an oath to her by the LORD,“ As surely as the LORD lives, you will not incur guilt in this matter!”The woman replied,“ Who is it that I should bring up for you?” He said,“ Bring up for me Samuel.”When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out loudly. The woman said to Saul,“ Why have you deceived me? You are Saul!”The king said to her,“ Don’t be afraid! What have you seen?” The woman replied to Saul,“ I have seen one like a god coming up from the ground!”He said to her,“ What about his appearance?” She said,“ An old man is coming up! He is wrapped in a robe!” Then Saul realized it was Samuel, and he bowed his face toward the ground and kneeled down.Samuel said to Saul,“ Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” Saul replied,“ I am terribly troubled! The Philistines are fighting against me and God has turned away from me. He does not answer me– not by the prophets nor by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what I should do.”Samuel said,“ Why are you asking me, now that the LORD has turned away from you and has become your enemy?The LORD has done exactly as I prophesied! The LORD has torn the kingdom from your hand and has given it to your neighbor David!Since you did not obey the LORD and did not carry out his fierce anger against the Amalekites, the LORD has done this thing to you today.The LORD will hand you and Israel over to the Philistines! Tomorrow both you and your sons will be with me. The LORD will also hand the army of Israel over to the Philistines!”Saul quickly fell full length on the ground and was very afraid because of Samuel’s words. He was completely drained of energy, not having eaten anything all that day and night.

They will say to you,“ Seek oracles at the pits used to conjure up underworld spirits, from the magicians who chirp and mutter incantations. Should people not seek oracles from their gods, by asking the dead about the destiny of the living?”

Now as we were going to the place of prayer, a slave girl met us who had a spirit that enabled her to foretell the future by supernatural means. She brought her owners a great profit by fortune- telling.She followed behind Paul and us and kept crying out,“ These men are servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation.”She continued to do this for many days. But Paul became greatly annoyed, and turned and said to the spirit,“ I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!” And it came out of her at once.

Here is what the LORD of hosts says:‘ I carefully observed how the Amalekites opposed Israel along the way when Israel came up from Egypt.

Now in that city was a man named Simon, who had been practicing magic and amazing the people of Samaria, claiming to be someone great.All the people, from the least to the greatest, paid close attention to him, saying,“ This man is the power of God that is called‘ Great.’”And they paid close attention to him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic.

He passed his son through the fire and practiced divination and omen reading. He set up a ritual pit to conjure up underworld spirits, and appointed magicians to supervise it. He did a great amount of evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger.
