It came about the next day, when the Philistines came to strip those killed, that they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.

So the Philistines assembled and came and camped in Shunem; and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they camped in Gilboa.

then David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of his son Jonathan from the citizens of Jabesh gilead, who had stolen them from the public square of Beth shan, where the Philistines had hanged them on the day the Philistines struck and killed Saul in Gilboa.

Now it came about in those days that the Philistines gathered their armed camps for war, to fight against Israel. And Achish said to David,“ Know for certain that you will go out with me in the camp, you and your men.”

The young man who told him said,“ By chance I happened to be on Mount Gilboa, and behold, Saul was leaning on his spear. And behold, the chariots and the horsemen had overtaken him.

Mountains of Gilboa, May there be no dew nor rain on you, or fields of offerings! For there the shield of the mighty was defiled, The shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.
