113:1 See ch. 12:3“On that day there shall be 13:1 [Ezek. 36:25]a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness.

Idolatry Cut Off

2“And 13:2 [See ver. 1above] on that day, declares the Lord of hosts, 13:2 Mic. 5:13; [Jer. 10:11; Ezek. 30:13] I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, so that 13:2 Ex. 23:13they shall be remembered no more. And also 13:2 [ch. 10:2]I will remove from the land the prophets and the spirit of uncleanness.

3And if anyone again prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will say to him, 13:3 See Deut. 13:1-11‘You shall not live, for you speak lies in the name of the Lord.’ And his father and mother who bore him shall pierce him through when he prophesies.

4“On that day 13:4 [Mic. 3:7]every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies. He will not put on a hairy cloak in order to deceive,

5but he will say, 13:5 Amos 7:14‘I am no prophet, I am a worker of the soil, for a man sold me in my youth.’13:5 Or for the land has been my possession since my youth

6And if one asks him, ‘What are these wounds on your back?’13:6 Or on your chest; Hebrew wounds between your hands he will say, ‘The wounds I received in the house of my friends.’

The Shepherd Struck

7“Awake, O sword, against 13:7 [Isa. 40:11; Heb. 13:20] my shepherd,

against the man who stands next to me,”

declares the Lord of hosts.

13:7 [Matt. 26:31; Mark 14:27]“Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered;

I will turn my hand against the little ones.

8In the whole land, declares the Lord,

two thirds shall be cut off and perish,

13:8 [ch. 14:2]and one third shall be left alive.

9And 13:9 Ps. 66:10, 12; Isa. 48:10; Mal. 3:2, 3; 1 Pet. 1:7I will put this third into the fire,

and refine them as one refines silver,

and test them as gold is tested.

13:9 [Ps. 50:15] They will call upon my name,

and 13:9 ch. 10:6I will answer them.

13:9 ch. 8:8; See Ezek. 11:20I will say, ‘They are my people’;

and they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”
