In the Day of Trouble I Seek the Lord
To the choirmaster: according to 77:0 Ps. 39, title Jeduthun. A Psalm of 77:0 Ps. 50, titleAsaph.

1I 77:1 See Ps. 3:4cry aloud to God,
aloud to God, and he will hear me.
277:2 Ps. 86:7; [Ps. 20:1; 50:15; Isa. 26:16] In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord;
in 77:2 Ps. 63:6; Isa. 26:9the night my 77:2 [Ps. 143:6] hand is stretched out without wearying;
my soul 77:2 Gen. 37:35refuses to be comforted.
3When I remember God, I 77:3 Ps. 42:5, 11; 43:5moan;
when I meditate, my spirit faints. Selah

4You hold my eyelids open;
I am so 77:4 [Gen. 41:8]troubled that I cannot speak.
5I consider 77:5 ver. 10, 11; Ps. 44:1; 143:5; Deut. 32:7; Isa. 51:9the days of old,
the years long ago.
6I said,77:6 Hebrew lacks I said “Let me remember my 77:6 See Ps. 42:8song in the night;
let me 77:6 Ps. 4:4meditate in my heart.”
Then my spirit made a diligent search:
7“Will the Lord 77:7 See Ps. 44:9spurn forever,
and never again 77:7 Ps. 85:1be favorable?
8Has his steadfast love forever ceased?
Are his 77:8 [Rom. 9:6]promises at an end for all time?
977:9 [Isa. 49:15] Has God forgotten to be gracious?
77:9 [Hab. 3:2]Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” Selah

10Then I said, “I will appeal to this,
to the years of the 77:10 [Ps. 118:15]right hand of the Most High.”77:10 Or This is my grief: that the right hand of the Most High has changed

11I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will 77:11 ver. 5; Ps. 105:5remember your wonders of old.
12I will ponder all your 77:12 Ps. 90:16work,
and meditate on your 77:12 Ps. 9:11mighty deeds.
13Your way, O God, is 77:13 Ps. 73:17holy.
77:13 See Ps. 35:10What god is great like our God?
14You are the God who 77:14 See Ps. 72:18works wonders;
you have 77:14 Ps. 106:8made known your might among the peoples.
15You 77:15 [Ps. 74:2; Ex. 6:6; Deut. 9:29]with your arm redeemed your people,
the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah

16When 77:16 Ps. 114:3; Ex. 14:21; Josh. 3:15, 16; Hab. 3:10the waters saw you, O God,
when the waters saw you, they were afraid;
indeed, the deep trembled.
17The clouds poured out water;
the skies 77:17 [Ps. 68:33] gave forth thunder;
your 77:17 See Ps. 18:14arrows flashed on every side.
1877:18 Ps. 104:7The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind;
77:18 Ps. 97:4your lightnings lighted up the world;
the earth 77:18 See Ps. 18:7trembled and shook.
19Your 77:19 Hab. 3:15way was through the sea,
your path through the great waters;
yet your footprints 77:19 See Ps. 36:6were unseen.77:19 Hebrew unknown
20You 77:20 Ps. 78:52, 53; 80:1; Ex. 13:21; 14:19; Isa. 63:11, 12led your people like a flock
by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
