Answer Me When I Call

1Answer me when I call, O God of my 4:1 Isa. 54:17; Jer. 23:6righteousness!

You have 4:1 See Job 36:16given me relief when I was in distress.

Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!

2O men,4:2 Or O men of rank how long shall my honor be turned into shame?

How long will you love vain words and seek after 4:2 [Ps. 5:6]lies? Selah

3But know that the Lord has 4:3 [Ex. 11:7] set apart 4:3 [Ps. 50:5]the godly for himself;

the Lord hears when I call to him.

6There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?

7You have put 4:7 [Isa. 9:3; 16:10; Jer. 48:38]more joy in my heart

than they have when their grain and wine abound.

8In peace I will both 4:8 See Ps. 3:5lie down and sleep;

for you alone, O Lord, make me 4:8 Ps. 16:9; Lev. 25:18, 19; 26:5; Deut. 33:28dwell in safety.
