Psalm 27
My Stronghold
Of David.
1The Lord is my light and my salvation —
The Lord is the stronghold of my life —
my foes and my enemies stumbled and fell.27:2 Ps 9:3
3Though an army deploys against me,
my heart will not be afraid;
though a war breaks out against me,
I will still be confident.27:3 Ps 3:6
4I have asked one thing from the Lord;
it is what I desire:
to dwell in the house of the Lord
gazing on the beauty of the Lord27:4 Ps 93:5
and seeking him in his temple.27:4 Mal 3:1
5For he will conceal me in his shelter
in the day of adversity;
he will hide me under the cover of his tent;
6Then my head will be high
above my enemies around me;27:6 Ps 3:3
I will sing and make music to the Lord.27:6 Eph 5:19
7Lord, hear my voice when I call;
8My heart says this about you:
“Seek27:8 The command is pl in Hb his face.”
do not turn your servant away in anger.27:9 Ps 6:1
You have been my helper;27:9 Ps 40:17
do not leave me or abandon me,
God of my salvation.
10Even if my father and mother abandon me,
11Because of my adversaries,
show me your way, Lord,
12Do not give me over to the will of my foes,
for false witnesses rise up against me,
breathing violence.27:12 Ps 35:11; 41:2; Mt 26:59–60
13I am certain that I will see the Lord’s goodness
14Wait for the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart be courageous.27:14 Jos 1:6
