Sing to the Lord a New Song

1149:1 [See Ps. 148:14 above] Praise the Lord!

Sing to the Lord149:1 See Ps. 33:3a new song,

his praise in 149:1 Ps. 89:5, 7the assembly of the godly!

2Let Israel 149:2 Ps. 85:6be glad in 149:2 See Ps. 95:6; Job 35:10his Maker;

let the children of Zion rejoice in their 149:2 1 Sam. 12:12; Zech. 9:9King!

3Let them praise his name with 149:3 Ps. 150:4; [Ps. 30:11] dancing,

making melody to him with 149:3 Ps. 150:4; Ex. 15:20tambourine and 149:3 Ps. 150:3lyre!

4For the Lord149:4 Ps. 35:27; 147:11takes pleasure in his people;

he 149:4 [Isa. 61:3]adorns the humble with salvation.

5Let the godly exult in glory;

let them 149:5 See Job 35:10sing for joy on their 149:5 Ps. 4:4; 63:6; [Hos. 7:14]beds.

6Let 149:6 [Ps. 66:17] the high praises of God be in their throats

and 149:6 Heb. 4:12; Rev. 1:16; 2:12; [Prov. 5:4]two-edged swords in their hands,

7to execute vengeance on the nations

and punishments on the peoples,

8to bind their kings with 149:8 [Job 36:8]chains

and their nobles with fetters of iron,

9to execute on them the judgment 149:9 Isa. 65:6; [Job 13:26] written!

149:9 [Ps. 148:14] This is honor for all his godly ones.
