1“Greatly129:1 Or Often; also verse 2 have they 129:1 [Ex. 1:14; Judg. 3:8, 14; 4:3; 6:2; 10:8] afflicted me 129:1 Isa. 47:12; Jer. 2:2; 22:21; Hos. 2:15from my youth”—

129:1 Ps. 124:1let Israel now say—

2“Greatly have they 129:2 [See ver. 1above] afflicted me 129:2 [See ver. 1above] from my youth,

129:2 [2 Cor. 4:8-10]yet they have not prevailed against me.

3129:3 Mic. 3:12The plowers plowed 129:3 [Isa. 50:6; 51:23]upon my back;

they made long their furrows.”

4The Lord is righteous;

he has cut 129:4 Ps. 2:3the cords of the wicked.

5May all who hate Zion

be 129:5 See Ps. 35:4put to shame and turned backward!

6Let them be like 129:6 2 Kgs. 19:26; Isa. 37:27the grass on the housetops,

which 129:6 Ps. 37:2; Job 8:12withers before it grows up,

7with which the reaper does not fill his hand

nor the binder of sheaves his arms,

8nor do those who pass by say,

129:8 Ruth 2:4“The blessing of the Lord be upon you!

We 129:8 Ps. 118:26bless you in the name of the Lord!”
