The Resurrection

2And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb.
3And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away 16:3 ch. 15:46the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?”
4And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—16:4 Matt. 27:60it was very large.
5And 16:5 [John 20:11, 12] entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, 16:5 [ch. 9:3; Dan. 7:9; John 20:12; Acts 1:10] dressed in 16:5 Rev. 6:11; 7:9a white robe, and 16:5 ch. 9:15 (Gk.)they were alarmed.
6And he said to them, 16:6 [See ver. 5above]“Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.
7But go, tell his disciples and Peter that 16:7 ch. 14:28he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, 16:7 ch. 14:28just as he told you.”
8And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
[Some of the earliest manuscripts do not include 16:9–20.]16:9 Some manuscripts end the book with 16:8; others include verses 9–20 immediately after verse 8. At least one manuscript inserts additional material after verse 14; some manuscripts include after verse 8 the following: But they reported briefly to Peter and those with him all that they had been told. And after this, Jesus himself sent out by means of them, from east to west, the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation. These manuscripts then continue with verses 9–20
Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

Jesus Appears to Two Disciples

The Great Commission

15And he said to them, 16:15 Matt. 28:19“Go into all the world and 16:15 Col. 1:23; [ch. 13:10; Acts 1:8; Rom. 10:18] proclaim the gospel to 16:15 Rom. 8:22the whole creation.

17And 16:17 [ch. 11:23] these signs will accompany those who believe: 16:17 Acts 5:16; 8:7; 16:18; 19:12; See ch. 9:38in my name they will cast out demons; 16:17 Acts 2:4; 10:46; 19:6; 1 Cor. 12:10, 28, 30; 13:1; 14:2, 4they will speak in new tongues;
1816:18 Luke 10:19; Acts 28:3-5they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; 16:18 See ch. 5:23they will lay their hands 16:18 Acts 5:15, 16; 8:7; 9:12, 17; 28:8; James 5:14, 15; [John 14:12]on the sick, and they will recover.”
19So then the Lord Jesus, 16:19 Acts 1:3after he had spoken to them, 16:19 Luke 9:51; 24:51; John 6:62; Acts 1:2; 1 Tim. 3:16; [John 20:17; Eph. 4:8-10; Heb. 4:14] was taken up into heaven and 16:19 Acts 7:55, 56; Rom. 8:34; Eph. 1:20; Col. 3:1; Heb. 1:3; 8:1; 10:12; 12:2; 1 Pet. 3:22; Rev. 3:21; See Matt. 22:44; Acts 2:33sat down at the right hand of God.
