Job 第42章
Job’s Confession and Repentance
1Then Job answered the Lord and said:
2“I know that you can 42:2 Gen. 18:14; Matt. 19:26do all things,
and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
4‘Hear, and I will speak;
5I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear,
but now my eye sees you;
6therefore I despise myself,
and repent in42:6 Or and am comforted upon42:6 [ch. 30:19; Gen. 18:27]; See ch. 2:8dust and ashes.”
The Lord Rebukes Job’s Friends
7After the Lord had spoken these words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz 42:7 ch. 2:11; 1 Chr. 1:45the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.
8Now therefore take 42:8 Num. 23:1; 1 Chr. 15:26seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and 42:8 ch. 1:5offer up a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job shall 42:8 Gen. 20:7; 1 Sam. 12:23; James 5:16; 1 John 5:16pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.”
The Lord Restores Job’s Fortunes
10And the Lord42:10 See Ps. 14:7restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job 42:10 Isa. 40:2; 61:7twice as much as he had before.
11Then came to him all his 42:11 ch. 19:13brothers and sisters and all who had 42:11 ch. 19:13known him before, and ate bread with him in his house. And they 42:11 ch. 2:11showed him sympathy and comforted him for all the evil42:11 Or disaster that the Lord had brought upon him. And each of them gave him 42:11 Gen. 33:19; Josh. 24:32a piece of money42:11 Hebrew a qesitah; a unit of money of uncertain value and 42:11 Gen. 24:22a ring of gold.
12And the Lord blessed 42:12 ch. 8:7the latter days of Job more than his beginning. And he had 42:12 [ver. 10; ch. 1:3]14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.
14And he called the name of the first daughter Jemimah, and the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-happuch.
15And in all the land there were no women so beautiful as Job’s daughters. And their father gave them an inheritance 42:15 See Num. 27:1-8among their brothers.
16And after this Job lived 140 years, and 42:16 Gen. 50:23; [Ps. 128:6; Isa. 53:10]saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, four generations.
