Jeremiah 第8章
1“At that time, declares the Lord, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its officials, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be brought out of their tombs.
2And they shall be spread 8:2 Deut. 4:19; 2 Kgs. 21:3; 23:5; [Job 31:26-28; Ezek. 8:16] before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and served, which they have gone after, and which they have sought and worshiped. 8:2 [Job 27:19] And they shall not be gathered or buried. 8:2 ch. 9:22; 16:4; 25:33They shall be as dung on the surface of the ground.
Sin and Treachery
4“You shall say to them, Thus says the Lord:
8:4 [Rom. 11:11]When men fall, do they not rise again?
If one turns away, does he not return?
in perpetual 8:5 See ch. 2:19backsliding?
8:5 ch. 9:6They hold fast to deceit;
they refuse to return.
68:6 [2 Pet. 3:9] I have paid attention and listened,
but they have not spoken rightly;
no man relents of his evil,
saying, ‘What have I done?’
Everyone turns to his own course,
8:6 See Job 39:19-25like a horse plunging headlong into battle.
7Even the stork in the heavens
knows her times,
and 8:7 Song 2:12the turtledove, 8:7 Isa. 38:14swallow, and crane8:7 The meaning of the Hebrew word is uncertain

and the law of the Lord is with us’?
But behold, the lying pen of the scribes
has made it into a lie.
98:9 [1 Cor. 1:19, 20] The wise men shall be put to shame;
they shall be dismayed 8:9 Job 5:13and taken;
behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord,
so what wisdom is in them?
and their fields to conquerors,
because from the least to the greatest
everyone 8:10 [Isa. 56:11]is greedy for unjust gain;
from prophet to priest,
everyone deals falsely.
saying, ‘Peace, peace,’
when there is no peace.
12Were they ashamed when they committed abomination?
No, 8:12 See ch. 3:3they were not at all ashamed;
they did not know how to blush.
8:12 [Hos. 4:5]Therefore they shall fall among the fallen;
when I punish them, they shall be overthrown,
says the Lord.
13When I would gather them, declares the Lord,
8:13 [Matt. 21:19; Luke 13:6] nor figs on the fig tree;
8:13 Isa. 1:30even the leaves are withered,
and what I gave them has passed away from them.”8:13 The meaning of the Hebrew is uncertain
14Why do we sit still?
and perish there,
for the Lord our God has doomed us to perish
and has 8:14 ch. 9:15; 23:15; Lam. 3:15, 19; Amos 6:12; [Rev. 8:11] given us 8:14 ch. 23:15; Deut. 29:18poisoned water to drink,
because we have sinned against the Lord.
for a time of healing, but behold, terror.
at the sound of the neighing 8:16 Judg. 5:22of their stallions
the city and those who dwell in it.
17For behold, I am sending among you 8:17 [Lev. 26:22] serpents,
adders 8:17 Ps. 58:4, 5; [Eccles. 10:11] that cannot be charmed,
8:17 Num. 21:6and they shall bite you,”
declares the Lord.
Jeremiah Grieves for His People
18My joy is gone; grief is upon me;8:18 Compare Septuagint; the meaning of the Hebrew is uncertain
19Behold, the cry of the daughter of my people
from 8:19 Isa. 39:3the length and breadth of the land:
“Is the Lord not in Zion?
8:19 Isa. 33:17Is her King not in her?”
8:19 Deut. 32:21“Why have they provoked me to anger with their carved images
and with their foreign idols?”
20“The harvest is past, the summer is ended,
and we are not saved.”
22Is there no 8:22 ch. 46:11; [Gen. 37:25]balm in Gilead?
Is there no physician there?
Why then has the health of the daughter of my people
not been restored?
