Isaiah 第22章
An Oracle Concerning Jerusalem
What do you mean that you have gone up,
all of you, to the housetops,
2you who are full of shoutings,
tumultuous city, 22:2 ch. 32:13exultant town?
Your slain are 22:2 Lam. 4:9not slain with the sword
or dead in battle.
without the bow they were captured.
All of you who were found were captured,
though they had fled far away.
4Therefore I said:
“Look away from me;
do not labor to comfort me
concerning the destruction of the daughter of my people.”
in 22:5 [See ver. 1above]the valley of vision,
a battering down of walls
and a shouting to the mountains.
with chariots and horsemen,
and 22:6 2 Kgs. 16:9Kir uncovered the shield.
7Your choicest valleys were full of chariots,
and the horsemen took their stand at the gates.
In that day you looked to 22:8 1 Kgs. 10:17the weapons of the House of the Forest,
9and you saw that 22:9 ver. 5, 10; [2 Chr. 32:5] the breaches of the city of David were many. 22:9 [Neh. 3:16]You collected the waters of the lower pool,
10and you counted the houses of Jerusalem, and you broke down the houses to fortify the wall.
1122:11 [See ver. 9above] You made a reservoir between 22:11 [2 Kgs. 25:4] the two walls for the water of 22:11 [ch. 7:3; 2 Kgs. 20:20; 2 Chr. 32:3, 4] the old pool. But 22:11 [ch. 5:12]you did not look to him who did it, or see him who planned it long ago.
called for weeping and mourning,
for 22:12 See ch. 3:24baldness and 22:12 See 2 Sam. 3:31wearing sackcloth;
13and behold, joy and gladness,
killing oxen and slaughtering sheep,
eating flesh and drinking wine.
22:13 ch. 56:12; Cited 1 Cor. 15:32“Let us eat and drink,
for tomorrow we die.”
“Surely 22:14 [ch. 27:9; 1 Sam. 3:14] this iniquity will not be atoned for you 22:14 [ver. 13]until you die,”
says the Lord God of hosts.
15Thus says the Lord God of hosts, “Come, go to this steward, to 22:15 ch. 36:3, 11, 22; 37:2; 2 Kgs. 18:18, 26, 37; 19:2Shebna, who is over the household, and say to him:
16What have you to do here, and whom have you here, 22:16 2 Chr. 16:14that you have cut out here a tomb for yourself, you 22:16 Matt. 27:60who cut out a tomb on the height and carve a dwelling for yourself in the rock?
17Behold, the Lord will hurl you away violently, O you strong man. 22:17 [Dan. 3:21]He will seize firm hold on you
18and whirl you around and around, and throw you like a ball into a wide land. There you shall die, and there shall be 22:18 [ch. 36:9]your glorious chariots, you shame of your master’s house.
20In that day I will call my servant 22:20 ch. 36:3; 37:2; 2 Kgs. 18:18, 26, 37; 19:2Eliakim the son of Hilkiah,
21and 22:21 [See ver. 20above] I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your sash on him, and will commit your authority to his hand. And he shall be 22:21 Gen. 45:8a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
22And I will place 22:22 ch. 9:6on his shoulder 22:22 Rev. 3:7the key of the house of David. 22:22 [Job 12:14]He shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
23And I will fasten him 22:23 [ch. 33:20; 54:2; Eccles. 12:11] like a peg in a secure place, and he will become 22:23 [Rev. 3:21]a throne of honor to his father’s house.
24And they will hang on him the whole honor of his father’s house, the offspring and issue, every small vessel, from the cups to all the flagons.
