Pray for All People

1First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,

22:2 Ezra 6:10for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and 2:2 ch. 3:4dignified in every way.

3This is good, and 2:3 ch. 5:4it is pleasing in the sight of 2:3 ch. 1:1God our Savior,

4who desires 2:4 ch. 4:10; Ezek. 18:23, 32all people to be saved and 2:4 2 Tim. 3:7to come to 2:4 2 Tim. 2:25; Titus 1:1; Heb. 10:26the knowledge of the truth.

9likewise also 2:9 1 Pet. 3:3; [Isa. 3:18-23]that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,

102:10 [1 Pet. 3:4]but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.

11Let a woman learn quietly 2:11 Titus 2:5with all submissiveness.

122:12 [1 Cor. 14:34]I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.

132:13 Gen. 1:27; 2:8For Adam was formed first, 2:13 Gen. 2:18, 22then Eve;

14and Adam was not deceived, but 2:14 Gen. 3:6, 13the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.

15Yet she will be saved through 2:15 [Gal. 4:4] childbearing—if they continue in 2:15 ch. 1:14faith and love and holiness, with self-control.
