11:1 See John 1:1That which was 1:1 [ch. 2:13, 14] from the beginning, 1:1 Acts 4:20which we have heard, 1:1 John 19:35which we have seen with our eyes, 1:1 ch. 4:14; John 1:14; 2 Pet. 1:16which we looked upon and 1:1 Luke 24:39; John 20:27have touched with our hands, concerning the word1:1 Or Word of life—

21:2 John 1:4; 11:25; 14:6the life 1:2 ch. 3:5, 8; Rom. 16:26; 1 Tim. 3:16was made manifest, and we have seen it, and 1:2 See John 15:27testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, 1:2 [See ver. 1above]which was with the Father and 1:2 ch. 3:5, 8; Rom. 16:26; 1 Tim. 3:16was made manifest to us—

31:3 [See ver. 1above] that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed 1:3 John 17:21; 1 Cor. 1:9; [ch. 2:24]our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

4And we are writing these things so 1:4 John 15:11; 16:24that our1:4 Some manuscripts your joy may be complete.

Walking in the Light

51:5 ch. 3:11This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that 1:5 James 1:17; [ch. 4:8; John 4:24]God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

61:6 ch. 2:11; John 12:35; 2 Cor. 6:14If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and 1:6 John 3:21do not practice the truth.

7But 1:7 [Isa. 2:5] if we walk in the light, 1:7 [Ps. 104:2; 1 Tim. 6:16] as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and 1:7 Eph. 1:7; Heb. 9:14; 1 Pet. 1:19; Rev. 5:9; 7:14; 12:11the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

81:8 [Job 15:14; Jer. 2:35]; See James 3:2If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and 1:8 ch. 2:4the truth is not in us.

91:9 Ps. 32:5; 51:3; Prov. 28:13If we confess our sins, he is 1:9 [Ps. 143:1; Rom. 3:26] faithful and just to forgive us our sins and 1:9 [See ver. 7above]to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10If we say we have not sinned, 1:10 ch. 5:10we make him a liar, and 1:10 John 5:38; 8:37his word is not in us.
