Preparation for the Bowl Judgments
1Then I saw another great and awe-inspiring sign15:1 Or and awesome symbolic display in heaven:15:1 Mt 16:1; 24:30; Lk 21:11; Ac 2:19; Rv 12:1,3; 13:13 seven angels with the seven last plagues; for with them God’s wrath will be completed.15:1 Jn 19:30; Rv 10:7; 16:17; 17:17
2I also saw something like a sea of glass15:2 Rv 4:6 mixed with fire, and those who had won the victory over the beast, its image,15:2 Other mss add his mark and the number of its name, were standing on the sea of glass with harps from God.15:2 Rv 5:8; 14:2
Great and awe-inspiring are your works,
Lord God, the Almighty;
4Lord, who will not fear
and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.15:4 Is 8:13
All the nations will come
because your righteous acts
have been revealed.
5After this I looked, and the heavenly temple — the tabernacle of testimony15:5 Ex 38:21; Nm 17:7; 18:2 — was opened.15:5 Rv 11:19
6Out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues, dressed in pure, bright linen, with golden sashes wrapped around their chests.
7One of the four living creatures gave the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God who lives forever and ever.15:7 Ex 15:18; Ps 10:16; 45:6; 48:14; Gl 1:5; Eph 3:21; Php 4:20; 1Tm 1:17; 2Tm 4:18; Heb 1:8; 13:21; 1Pt 4:11; Rv 1:6,18; 4:9–10; 5:13; 7:12; 10:6; 11:15
