A Prayer for Jerusalem
A song of ascents. Of David.
1I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let’s go to the house of the Lord.”122:1 Is 2:3; Mc 4:2; Zch 8:21
2Our feet were standing
within your gates, Jerusalem122:2 Ps 9:14; Jr 7:2 —

3Jerusalem, built as a city should be,
solidly united,122:3 Neh 4:6; Ps 147:2
4where the tribes, the Lord’s tribes, go up
to give thanks to the name of the Lord.122:4 Is 2:3; Mc 4:2

5There, thrones for judgment are placed,
thrones of the house of David.122:5 Dt 17:8; 2Ch 19:8

6Pray for the well-being122:6 Or peace of Jerusalem:

7may there be peace within your walls,
security within your fortresses.”122:7 Ps 48:3
8Because of my brothers and friends,
