Judah’s King Azariah
1In the twenty-seventh year of Israel’s King Jeroboam, Azariah15:1 = Uzziah in 2Ch 26:315:1 2Kg 14:21 son of Amaziah became king of Judah.15:1–3 2Ch 26:3–5
2He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jecoliah; she was from Jerusalem.
3Azariah did what was right in the Lord’s sight15:3 1Kg 14:8 just as his father Amaziah had done.
4Yet the high places were not taken away; the people continued sacrificing and burning incense on the high places.15:4 2Kg 14:3–4

Israel’s King Zechariah
8In the thirty-eighth year of Judah’s King Azariah, Zechariah15:8 2Kg 14:29 son of Jeroboam reigned over Israel in Samaria for six months.

Israel’s King Shallum
13In the thirty-ninth year of Judah’s King Uzziah,15:13 = Azariah, also in vv. 30,32,34 Shallum son of Jabesh became king; he reigned in Samaria15:13 1Kg 16:24 a full month.
14Then Menahem son of Gadi came up from Tirzah15:14 1Kg 14:17 to Samaria and struck down Shallum son of Jabesh there. He killed him and became king in his place.

Israel’s King Menahem

17In the thirty-ninth year of Judah’s King Azariah, Menahem son of Gadi became king over Israel, and he reigned ten years in Samaria.

19King Pul15:19 = Tiglath-pileser15:19 1Ch 5:25–26 of Assyria invaded the land, so Menahem gave Pul seventy-five thousand pounds15:19 Lit 1,000 talents of silver so that Pul would support him to strengthen his grasp on the kingdom.15:19 2Kg 14:5
20Then Menahem exacted twenty ounces15:20 Lit 50 shekels of silver from each of the prominent men of Israel to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria withdrew and did not stay there in the land.15:20 2Kg 12:18

Israel’s King Pekahiah
23In the fiftieth year of Judah’s King Azariah, Pekahiah son of Menahem became king over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned two years.
24He did what was evil in the Lord’s sight and did not turn away from the sins Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit.15:24 1Kg 12:28–33
25Then his officer, Pekah15:25 2Ch 28:6 son of Remaliah, conspired against him15:25 2Kg 12:20 and struck him down in Samaria at the citadel of the king’s palace15:25 1Kg 16:8 — with Argob and Arieh.15:25 Hb obscure There were fifty Gileadite men with Pekah. He killed Pekahiah and became king in his place.

Israel’s King Pekah
27In the fifty-second year of Judah’s King Azariah, Pekah son of Remaliah became king over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned twenty years.
28He did what was evil in the Lord’s sight. He did not turn away from the sins Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit.
29In the days of King Pekah of Israel, King Tiglath-pileser15:29 1Ch 5:6,26 of Assyria came and captured Ijon,15:29 1Kg 15:29 Abel-beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee — all the land of Naphtali15:29 Jos 19:32–39 — and deported the people to Assyria.15:29 2Kg 17:6
30Then Hoshea15:30 2Kg 17:1 son of Elah organized a conspiracy against Pekah son of Remaliah. He attacked him, killed him,15:30 2Kg 12:20 and became king in his place in the twentieth year of Jotham son of Uzziah.

Judah’s King Jotham
32In the second year of Israel’s King Pekah son of Remaliah, Jotham15:32 2Kg 15:5,7 son of Uzziah became king of Judah.
33He was twenty-five years old when he became king,15:33–35 2Ch 27:1–3 and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.
34He did what was right in the Lord’s sight just as his father Uzziah had done.15:34–35 2Kg 15:3–4
